Serving Versus Selling

I’d rather wash the feet of those
Who carry hidden, heavy loads.
I’d rather serve with heart sincere
Than chase sales through hype or fear.

A worker’s hands are built to toil,
To tend the seed and break the soil.
The entrepreneur may dream and scheme,
But servants labor for the King supreme.

When I have spoken from the heart,
The books I’ve written found their start—
Not through a polished marketing art,
But truth that reached a wounded part.

Countless seminars can fill the day,
And strategies may chart the way,
But piling methods on the shelf
Won’t change how God made “myself.”

So trembling, I must seek the Lord,
And trust the wisdom of his Word.
To work salvation deep within
And let his purpose now begin.

The answer isn’t louder cries,
Or clever hooks that mesmerize.
It’s finding souls prepared to hear
A message sent throughout the year.

Perhaps the list I need to grow
Is not just names that come and go,
But hearts connected by a flame
That longs to glorify Jesus’ name.

So I will write, and I will sow,
And trust the Lord to help me grow.
For servants faithful to their call
May whisper truths that reach us all.
